Oil Pan Installation

CAUTION:

in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the oil level switch (1).
Tighten
Tighten the oil level switch (1) to 20 N.m (15 ft lbs).
- If required, install a new oil pan seal using the following procedure:
- 2.1. Clean any residual oil from the seal groove.
- 2.2. Start the seal into the pan groove and work the seal into the groove in both directions around the pan.
- 2.3. If the seal is exposed to oil, it will no longer stay in the groove. If this condition exists, replace the seal.
- Position the oil pan onto the lower crankcase.
- Install the oil pan retaining bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the oil pan retaining bolts to 10 N.m (89 in lbs) in the sequence shown.
- Install the oil drain plug.
Tighten
Tighten the oil drain plug to 20 N.m (15 ft lbs).
- Rotate the engine so that the engine valley is facing upward.
