Oil Pan Installation

CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Install the oil level switch (1).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil level switch (1) to 20 N.m (15 ft lbs).

  2. If required, install a new oil pan seal using the following procedure:
    1. 2.1. Clean any residual oil from the seal groove.
    2. 2.2. Start the seal into the pan groove and work the seal into the groove in both directions around the pan.
    3. 2.3. If the seal is exposed to oil, it will no longer stay in the groove. If this condition exists, replace the seal.
  3. Position the oil pan onto the lower crankcase.

  4. Install the oil pan retaining bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil pan retaining bolts to 10 N.m (89 in lbs) in the sequence shown.

  5. Install the oil drain plug.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil drain plug to 20 N.m (15 ft lbs).

  6. Rotate the engine so that the engine valley is facing upward.
