Cylinder Head Removal - Right

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora and 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the M6 external drive bolts (1, 3) from the front portion of the right cylinder head. Note the location of the longer M6 bolt (1).

    Important:  DO NOT reuse the old M11 cylinder head bolts.

  2. Remove and discard the M11 internal drive cylinder head bolts (2).
  3. Remove the right cylinder head. Ensure that no dowel guide pins are stuck in the right cylinder head.

  4. Remove the right cylinder head gasket. Ensure that all of the gasket material is removed.
  5. Place the right cylinder head on a flat, clean surface with the combustion chambers face-up in order to prevent damage to the deck face.
