Tools Required

  1. Install the J 43442.

  2. Use the J 42041  (1), nut, bearing and washer J 42041-2 (2) to install the crankshaft balancer.

    Important:  Do not lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal or crankshaft balancer sealing surfaces. The crankshaft balancer is installed into a dry seal.

  3. Place the crankshaft balancer in position on the crankshaft.

  4. Thread the J 42041  in the crankshaft. Make sure you engage at least ten threads of the J 42041  before pressing the crankshaft balancer in place.

  5. Push the crankshaft balancer into position by tightening the nut on the J 42041  until the large washer bottoms out on the crankshaft end.
  6. Remove the J 42041.

  7. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt.

    CAUTION: Refer to in FASTENER NOTICE .
  8. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt.

    Tighten 

    1. 8.1. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt to 50 N.m (37 ft lbs).
    2. 8.2. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt an additional 120 degrees using the J 36660-A.

  9. Remove the J 43442.

  10. Install the drive belt tensioner. Be sure to locate the tensioner anchor pin in the cylinder head recess (1).
  11. Install the drive belt tensioner bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the drive belt tensioner bolt to 50 N.m (37 ft lbs).
