Installation Procedure

- Install the linear shift assembly and secure using 3 TORX® screws. Tighten the 3 TORX® screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Important: Lubricate all of the moving parts of the linear shift assembly with synthetic grease.
- Install the gear shift lever assembly support bracket onto the steering column support assembly.
- Screw the 3 TORX® screws into the gear shift lever assembly. Tighten the 3 TORX® screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Insert the cam bushing (2) into the cable shift cam assembly (1).
- Install the cable shift cam assembly (1) into the support bracket for the gear shift lever assembly.
- Screw the hexagon flange head bolt into the cable shift cam assembly (1). Tighten the hexagon flange head bolt to 18 N.m (14 lb ft).
- Install the park lock cable assembly onto the support bracket for the gear shift lever assembly.
- Screw the 3 TORX® screws into the shift gate and park lock cable assembly. Tighten the 3 TORX® screws to 6.5 N.m (58 lb in).
- Install the shift lever clevis (1) into the support bracket for the gear shift lever assembly.
- Install the ball actuator assembly (2) onto the gear shift lever assembly.
- Install the hexagon flange head bolt into the gear shift lever assembly. Tighten the hexagon flange head bolt to 18 N.m (14 lb ft).
- Connect the park lock cable assembly (1) to the lock module assembly in the following way:
- 12.1. Place the steering column lock cylinder set into the off position.
- 12.2. Place the shift lever clevis into the park position.
- 12.3. Press the locking tab on the end of the park lock cable assembly (1) into the slot in the lock module assembly.
- Inspect the park lock cable assembly.
- 13.1. Put the lock cylinder in the OFF-LOCK position. The shift lever clevis should not be able to shift out of the park position.
- 13.2. Turn the key to the run position and put the shift lever clevis in the neutral position.
- 13.3. With the shift lever clevis in the neutral position the lock cylinder should not be able to go into the OFF-LOCK position.
- 13.4. Put the shift lever clevis into the park position.
- 13.5. Put the lock cylinder in the OFF-LOCK position and then remove the key.
- Install the automatic transmission shift lock actuator. Refer to SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID .
- Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
