Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and 2002 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Position the steering wheel on the steering column.
  2. Route the SIR connector through the steering wheel.
  3. Align the scribe mark on the steering wheel with the slash mark on the steering shaft.
  4. Install the steering wheel.
  5. Install the steering shaft nut. Tighten the steering shaft nut to 45 N.m (33 ft lbs).
  6. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to AIR BAG MODULES .
  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  8. Inspect the operation of the following components:
    • The horn
    • The steering wheel
    • The steering wheel controls
