Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and 2002 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to AIR BAG MODULES .
  3. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  4. Remove the steering wheel controls wire harness from the retainers in the steering wheel aluminum insert and plastic back shroud.

  6. Remove the switch bezel screw at the steering wheel insert.
  7. Pull upward in order to remove the switch bezel from the steering wheel.

  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the back of the switches.

  9. Remove the switch assembly (switches and bezel).
