Linear Shift Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle

Important:  If installing a new linear shift assembly, it will come with a pre-adjusted park lock cable. Do not remove the tape from the park lock cable until installation of the steering column to the vehicle is complete.

  1. Install the linear shift assembly to the steering column.

  3. Install 3 new flat head 6 lobed tap screws to the linear shift assembly. Tighten the 3 screws to 4 N.m (36 in lbs).
  4. Put the shift lever clevis into the NEUTRAL position. This will be 2 positions from the park position.
  5. Install the automatic transmission shift lock control.

  6. Install the shift lever seal (2) onto the shift lever assembly (4).
  7. Install the shift lever assembly (4) and secure it with the shift lever screw (3). Tighten the screw to 1.5 N.m (13 in lbs).
  8. Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
  9. Function check for park lock requirements when installation of the steering column to the vehicle is complete.
  10. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
