Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Assemble - Off Vehicle

Important:  Align the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly to the 12 O'clock position.

  1. If using existing inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil, refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle (Column Shift & Floor Shift) .
  2. A new inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil will come already centered. Do not remove the orange tab until installation is complete.
  3. Align the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (2) with the horn tower sticking through the shaft lock shield assembly (1).

    Important:  Seat the retaining ring (1) in the groove of the race and upper shaft assembly (2).

  4. Install the retaining ring (1).
  5. If you installed a new inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil, remove and discard the orange tab.
  6. Reconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector.
  7. Install new wire harness straps onto the wire harness assembly (1).
  8. Pop the wire harness assembly (1) into the wire harness strap (2).
  9. Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
  10. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
