Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Bearing Thrust Washer - Assemble - Off Vehicle

Tools Required: 

  1. Install the following parts onto the steering shaft assembly:
    1. The thrust washer (1).
    2. The upper bearing spring (2).
    3. Lubricate the turn signal cancel cam assembly with lithium grease.
    4. The turn signal cancel can assembly (3).
    5. The shaft lock shield assembly (4).

  2. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly using J 23653-SIR  and J 42137  .
  3. Install the new bearing retainer (1) onto the steering shaft assembly.
  4. Firmly seat the bearing retainer (1) into the groove on the steering shaft assembly.
  5. Remove J 23653-SIR  and J 42137  from the steering shaft assembly.
    WARNING: Improper routing of the wire harness assembly may damage the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. This may result in a malfunction of the coil, which may cause personal injury.
  6. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil assembly. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
  7. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM .
