Rear Disc Brake Hardware: Removal

  1. Raise the vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  2. Remove the brake caliper assembly. See REAR BRAKE CALIPER BRACKET  .
  3. Inspect the brake caliper assembly. See BRAKE PAD INSPECTION  in DISC BRAKE SYSTEM under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  4. Remove the brake pad retaining clip from the brake caliper.
  5. Remove the brake pads from the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  6. Remove the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  7. Remove the brake pad retaining clips from the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  8. Remove the brake caliper guide pins from the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  9. Remove the guide pin bushing from the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  10. Clean the brake caliper mounting bracket with denatured alcohol.
  11. Dry the brake caliper mounting bracket using non-lubricated, filtered air.
