Master Cylinder: Removal

- Apply the parking brake.
- Disconnect the master cylinder fluid level sensor connector. See Fig 1 .
- Disconnect the brake pipes from the master cylinder. See Fig 1 .
- Plug the brake pipes.
- Remove the master cylinder mounting nuts.
- Remove the master cylinder assembly.
- Drain the master cylinder of brake fluid.
NOTE:
Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake hose fitting ends in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
CAUTION:
Avoid spilling brake fluid onto painted surfaces, electrical connections, wiring, or cables. Brake fluid will damage painted surfaces and cause corrosion to electrical components. If any brake fluid comes in contact with painted surfaces, immediately flush the area with water. If any brake fluid comes in contact with electrical connections, wiring, or cables, use a clean shop cloth to wipe away the fluid.
