Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Buick Regal and 2002 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the new exhaust manifold gasket.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold.
  3. Install the exhaust manifold bolts and the nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts and the nuts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  4. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
  5. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nuts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  6. Install the engine lift bracket.
  7. Install the engine lift bracket bolt and the nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt and the nut to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  8. Install the oil level indicator tube bracket. Refer to OIL LEVEL INDICATOR AND TUBE REPLACEMENT
  9. Connect the left spark plug wires.
  10. Install the exhaust crossover to the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (3.1L)  or Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (3.8L) 
  11. Install the engine mount struts. Refer to ENGINE MOUNT STRUT REPLACEMENT - RIGHT and ENGINE MOUNT STRUT REPLACEMENT - LEFT
  12. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to FUEL INJECTOR SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (L36) or FUEL INJECTOR SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (L67) .
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
