Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Buick Regal and 2002 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to FUEL INJECTOR SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (L36) or FUEL INJECTOR SIGHT SHIELD REPLACEMENT (L67) .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System 
  3. Remove the air cleaner intake duct.
  4. Use the J 38185 to reposition the hose clamp from the water outlet housing.
  5. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the water outlet housing.

  7. Remove from the water outlet housing bolts.
  8. Remove the water outlet housing and gasket.
  9. Remove the thermostat.

  10. Clean the water outlet gasket mating surfaces.
