Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Buick Regal. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Use compressed air in order to blow oil out of the tapped holes in the cylinder head.
- Lubricate the ends of the push rod(s) with clean engine oil. Install the push rod(s) to the same position the push rod(s) was removed from.
- Install the push rod guide plate(s).
- Install the valve rocker arm(s).NOTE: This bolt is designed to permanently stretch when tightened. The correct part number fastener must be used to replace this type of fastener. Do not use a bolt that is stronger in this application. If the correct bolt is not used, the parts will not be tightened correctly. The system or the components may be damaged.
- Apply GM P/IM 12345493 threadlocker or equivalent to the rocker arm bolt threads
- Install the valve rocker arm bolt(s).
Tighten:
Tighten the valve rocker arm bolt(s) to 15 N.m (11 lb ft). Use the J 36660-A in order to rotate the bolts an additional 90 degrees
- Install the valve rocker arm cover(s). Refer to the following procedures:
- Inspect the valve train for noise.
