Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L36)  or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L67)  .
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L36)  or Drive Belt Replacement (L67) 
  4. Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.

  6. Remove the air inlet duct from the throttle body.
  7. Remove the right and left engine mount struts. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Right  or Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Left  .
  8. Raise and support the vehicle.
  9. Remove the right front tire and wheel.
  10. Remove the right engine splash shield retainers and splash shield.
  11. Remove the power steering oil cooler pipe brackets from the frame.
  12. Remove the A/C compressor and A/C compressor mounting bracket from the engine. DO NOT discharge the system. Secure the compressor.

  13. Remove the catalytic converter from the right side exhaust manifold. Refer to or CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT (3.8L) in ENGINE EXHAUST .
  14. Remove the engine mount lower nuts from the frame.

  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture 
  17. Use the engine support fixture to raise the engine.
  18. Raise the vehicle.
  19. Remove the left front engine mount bracket bolts from the engine.

  20. Remove the right rear engine mount bracket bolts from the engine.
  21. Support the frame with jack stands. Loosen the left side frame bolts. Remove the right side frame bolts. Using the jack stands, lower the frame for the engine mount bracket removal.
  22. Remove the engine mount bracket and the engine mount from the engine.

  23. Remove the engine mount upper nuts.
  24. Remove the engine mount from the engine mount bracket.
