Component Comparison:

Removed the EGR valve pipe gasket.

Fastener Changes:

No fastener changes from 2001.

Torque Values and/or Fastener Tightening Strategies:

No torque value or fastener tightening strategy changes from 2001.

Changed Engine Specifications:

Engine mechanical specifications remain the same as the 2001 products.

New Sealants and/or Adhesives:

Sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) removed from knock sensor.

Disassembly and Assembly Procedure Revisions:

Engine mount strut and engine lift bracket removal and installation deleted
Piston and connecting rod assembly
Valve guide reaming/valve and seat grinding
Cylinder head assembly
Piston, connecting rod, bearing clean and inspect
Valve rocker arm and pushrod installation

Engine Mechanical Diagnostic Procedure Revisions:

No engine mechanical diagnostic changes from 2001.

New Special Tools Required: J 5825-A has been removed for 2002.
