Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift)

Tools Required: 

  1. Install the following components onto the steering shaft assembly:
    1. 1.1. Lubricate the inner race (1) with synthetic grease
    2. 1.2. The inner race (1)
    3. 1.3. The upper bearing inner race seat (2)
    4. 1.4. The upper bearing spring (3)
    5. 1.5. Lubricate the lower brass surface of the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4) with synthetic grease
    6. 1.6. The turn signal cancel cam assembly (4)
    7. 1.7. The shaft lock shield assembly (5)

  2. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly using J 23653-SIR  and J 42137  .
  3. Install the new bearing retainer (1) onto the steering shaft assembly.
  4. Firmly seat the bearing retainer (1) into the groove on the steering shaft assembly.
  5. Remove J 23653-SIR  and J 42137  from the steering shaft assembly.

  6. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift)  or Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Floor Shift)  .
