Balance Shaft Drive Chain And TENSIONER (Unit Repair): Installation

IMPORTANT: If balance shafts are not properly timed to engine, the engine may vibrate and make noise.
- Install upper balance shaft chain guide.
Torque:
Balance Shaft Chain Guide (Upper) Bolts: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)
- Install small balance shaft chain guide.
- Tighten balance shaft chain guide bolts.
Torque:
Balance Shaft Chain Guide (Fixed) Bolts: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)
- Install adjustable balance shaft drive chain guide.
Torque:
Balance Shaft Chain Guide (Adjustable) Bolt: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)
- Turn tensioner plunger 90° in its bore and compress plunger until a paper clip can be inserted through the hole in plunger body and into the hole in tensioner plunger.
- Install balance shaft drive chain tensioner.
- Tighten balance shaft drive chain tensioner bolts.
Torque:
Balance Shaft Chain Tensioner Bolts: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)
- Remove paper clip from balance shaft drive chain tensioner.
