Installation (Pickup w/4.8L, 5.3L & 6.0L Engines)

  1. If necessary, install the starter shield.
  2. Snap the transmission cover to the starter.
  3. Install the positive cable to the starter stud.
  4. Install and tighten the starter lead nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Install the starter solenoid lead to the solenoid stud. See Figure. Install and tighten the starter solenoid nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Snap the transmission cover onto the starter.
  7. Slide the starter rearward.
  8. Install and tighten the starter bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Connect the oil level sensor electrical connector.
  10. Install and tighten the right transmission cover bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten negative battery cable bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
