Boot Assembly Note

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mazda 3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: The wheel side and transaxle side boots are different.
  1. Fill the boot (wheel side) with the specified grease from a tube, not by hand. Use the specified grease supplied in the boot kit. See BOOT GREASE STANDARD AMOUNT  table.
WARNING: Continuous exposure to grease may cause skin cancer. Do not touch grease.
CAUTION: Apply it from the tube to prevent foreign matter from entering the boot.
  2. Install the boot with the splines of the shaft still wrapped in tape from disassembly.
  3. Remove the tape.
