Wheel Cylinders: Removal

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  2. Remove the brake drum. See REAR BRAKE DRUM  . Remove the brake shoes. See REAR BRAKE SHOES  .
  3. Clean the dirt and foreign material around the wheel cylinder. Remove the bleeder valve.
  4. Disconnect the brake pipe fitting from the wheel cylinder. Plug the open brake pipe ends. Remove the wheel cylinder mounting bolts. Remove the wheel cylinder. See Figure .
