Park Brake Hardware: Removal

  1. Raise support the vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Remove the brake drum. See BRAKE DRUM  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Position the hook end of the Brake Shoe Spanner and Spring Remover (J-38400), (1) under the universal spring and lightly pull the universal spring end out of the shoe web hole. See Fig 1 . Hold the universal spring while removing the brake shoe.
  3. Disconnect the park brake lever from the brake shoe by removing the retaining clip. Disconnect the park brake lever from the park brake cable.
