Park Brake Cable (Rear Drum): Installation

  1. Install the rear park brake cable into the backing plate. Connect the rear park brake cable to the park brake lever.
  2. Connect the retainer that holds the cable to the support bracket. Connect the rear park brake cable to the front cable.
  3. For the right rear cable, connect the cable to the clip. For the left rear cable, install the equalizer stud to the equalizer nut, which is part of the equalizer assembly.
  4. Adjust the park brake. See DISC PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  or DRUM PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under PARK BRAKE in ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
  5. Install the rear brake drum. See BRAKE DRUM  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  6. Install the rear tire and wheel. Lower the vehicle.
