Clunking When Accelerating From Coast

NOTE:
The symptom is a clunking noise present when accelerating from coast to drive under load.
- Check for a loose axle shaft to hub assembly nut. Is the axle shaft nut loose? If yes, proceed to next step. If no, go to step 3 .
- Tighten the axle shaft to hub assembly nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . When completed, the system is okay.
- Check for a damaged inner CV joint. Is the inner CV joint damaged? If yes, proceed to next step. If no, the system is okay.
- Replace the inner CV joint. See AXLE SHAFT INNER JOINT & BOOT under OVERHAUL. When completed, the system is okay.
