Axle Shafts: Installation
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2003 GMC Envoy XL, 2003 GMC Envoy, 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, and 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the front axle front differential assembly.
- Remove the mechanic's wire or hook from the front shock module/steering. See Figure .
- Install the front axle in the steering knuckle.
- Position the shock module in the shock tower.
- Install the shock module into the shock tower.
- Install the upper ball joint in the upper control arm.
- Install the pinch bolt and nut. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the shock module retaining nuts. See Figure . Tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the front axle shaft retaining.
- Install the NEW front axle shaft retaining nut. See Fig 1 . Tighten the axle shaft retaining nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the tie rod end in the steering knuckle. See Fig 2 . See OUTER TIE ROD END under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate POWER RACK & PINION article in MANUAL & POWER STEERING.
- Install the stabilizer bar link. See Figure . See STABILIZER SHAFT LINK under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate FRONT SUSPENSION article.
- Install the front brake hose retaining bolt. See Figure . Tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the front wheel speed sensor wiring harness in the retainers. See Figure .
- Reconnect the front wheel speed sensors electrical connector. See Figure .
- Install the engine protection shield. See Figure . Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten wheel lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lower vehicle.
