Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If engine electrical diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If engine electrical diagnostic system check was not performed, go to ENGINE ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under ON-VEHICLE TESTING.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe ELECTRONIC BATTERY FD from BCM data list. If scan tool indicates battery voltage is 9 volts or more, go to next step. If scan tool indicates battery voltage is less than 9 volts, go to TEST A: CHARGING SYSTEM TEST  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Replace theft deterrent module. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. After repairs are made, go to next step.
  4. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If DTC B1327 does not reset, system is okay. If DTC B1327 resets, go to step  2 .
