Removal (1500 Series Pickup & Utility With 4-Wheel Steering)

- Release the park brake.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
- Relieve the tension from the park brake cable by pulling down on the intermediate cable then release the cable from the equalizer bar. See Figure.
- Remove the rear park brake bracket bolt. See Figure.
- Remove the park brake cable from the park brake actuator lever. See Figure.
- Remove the wheel bearing. See REAR WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate DIFFERENTIALS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
- Remove the park brake shoe.
- Remove the park brake actuator lever housing from the backing plate.
- Remove the backing plate.
