Installation (With 4-Wheel Steering)
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 12 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, and 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
When lifting the vehicle do not allow the jack to touch the rear steering gear. If the jack touches the rear steering gear you may damage the gear or the rack and pinion boots. If the boots are damaged replace the rack and pinion boot.
- Install the park brake shoe to the actuator.
- Install the park brake shoe retaining clip and retaining clip bolt. Tighten the bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the park brake assembly and backing plate to the steering knuckle.
- Install the wheel bearing. See REAR WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate DIFFERENTIALS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
- Install the park brake cable to the park brake actuator lever. See Figure.
- Install the rear park brake bracket bolt. See Figure. Tighten the bolt to See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the park brake cable to the equalizer bar. See Figure.
- Adjust the park brake shoe. See PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lower the vehicle.
