Installation (Rear - All Pickup Except 1500 Series Without 4-Wheel Steering)

CAUTION: When lifting the vehicle do not allow the jack to touch the rear steering gear. If the jack touches the rear steering gear you may damage the gear or the rack and pinion boots. If the boots are damaged replace the rack and pinion boot.

Install the anti-rattle clips to the brake caliper mounting bracket. See Figure.
Install the disc brake pads to the brake caliper mounting bracket.
Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper mounting bracket. See BRAKE CALIPER .
Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Remove the safety stands.
Lower the vehicle.
With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of it's travel distance.
Slowly release the brake pedal.
Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 7- 8 until a firm pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the proper level with clean brake fluid. See MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR FILLING under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM.
Burnish the brakes pads and rotors as necessary. See BURNISHING PADS & ROTORS under SERVICING.
