Park Brake Drum: Removal

  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support the vehicle with safety stands.
  3. Reference mark the center bearing to the crossmember. See Fig 1 .
  4. Remove the nuts, washers, and bolts from the center bearing.
  5. Remove the bolts and the universal joint retainers from the transmission yoke. See Fig 2 .
  6. Reference mark the front propeller shaft to the transmission yoke.
  7. Remove the front propeller shaft from the transmission yoke.
  8. Tape the bearing cups to the universal joint to prevent the loss of the needle bearings.
  9. Position the front propeller shaft to provide access to the park brake drum.
  10. Remove the park brake drum to transmission yoke bolts.
  11. Remove the park brake drum.
