Installation (Rear)

  1. Install the brake caliper mounting plate to the rear axle. See Figure .
  2. Install the splash shield.
    NOTE: Ensure that the threads are clean and greaseless before applying Threadlocker.
  3. Apply Threadlocker (GM P/N 12345493), or the equivalent, to the threads of each brake caliper mounting plate bolt.
  4. Install the brake caliper mounting plate bolts. Tighten the brake caliper mounting plate bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Install the brake rotor. See BRAKE ROTOR  .
  6. Install the brake caliper. See BRAKE CALIPER  .
  7. Install the tire and the wheel assembly.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. With the engine off, gradually apply the brake pedal approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
  10. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  11. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps  9 and  10 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
