Installation (Front)

- Install the brake caliper mounting plate to the steering knuckle. See Figure .
- Install the spindle/mounting plate cover.NOTE: Ensure that the threads of each brake caliper mounting plate bolt are clean and greaseless before applying Threadlocker.
- Apply Threadlocker (GM P/N 12345493) to the threads of each brake caliper mounting plate bolt.
- Install the spindle to mounting plate nuts. Tighten the brake caliper mounting plate nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the splash shield.
- Install the splash shield bolts. Tighten the splash shield bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the hub and brake rotor assembly. See HUB under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate AXLE SHAFTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
- Install the brake caliper. See BRAKE CALIPER .
- Install the tire and the wheel assembly.
- Lower the vehicle.
- With the engine off, gradually apply the brake pedal approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
- Slowly release the brake pedal.
- Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 11 and 12 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
