Installation (Front)

  1. Install the brake caliper mounting plate to the steering knuckle. See Figure .
  2. Install the spindle/mounting plate cover.
    NOTE: Ensure that the threads of each brake caliper mounting plate bolt are clean and greaseless before applying Threadlocker.
  3. Apply Threadlocker (GM P/N 12345493) to the threads of each brake caliper mounting plate bolt.
  4. Install the spindle to mounting plate nuts. Tighten the brake caliper mounting plate nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Install the splash shield.
  6. Install the splash shield bolts. Tighten the splash shield bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Install the hub and brake rotor assembly. See HUB under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate AXLE SHAFTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
  8. Install the brake caliper. See BRAKE CALIPER  .
  9. Install the tire and the wheel assembly.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. With the engine off, gradually apply the brake pedal approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
  12. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  13. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps  11 and  12 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
