Park Brake Adjustment

NOTE:
Required Tool: Tension Scale (J-35999).
- Remove the clevis pin from the lever. Fig 1
- Set the parking brake by pushing the pedal down 18 degrees. See Fig 2
.
- Insert a 0.125" (3 mm) pin into locating hole in the pedal assembly.
- Push the pedal down until the pin contacts the parking brake outer flange.
- Install tension scale with a small length of cable or chain; and a tightening device, like a turnbuckle, on the frame. See Fig 3 .
- Install a small chain on the lever near the spring on the bottom of the lever. Tighten the tightening device until tension scale is at 50 Ft. Lbs. (222 N).
- Turn the clevis until the pin slides freely in the lever with all slack removed from the cable.
- Install the clevis pin and the cotter pin.
- Remove tension scale and all extensions used.
- Release the parking brake.
- Rotate the drum to assure there is no drag.
