Rear Brake Caliper: Installation

- Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the caliper slide pins and to the caliper boots. See Fig 1 .
- Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper bolts. Tighten the bolts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Remove the plugs in the brake hose end.
- Install NEW copper brake hose gaskets. Assemble the brake hose bolt and the NEW copper brake hose gaskets to the brake hose. See Figure . Install the brake hose bolt to the brake caliper. Tighten the bolt to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Remove the nuts securing the rotor to the hub.
- Install the tire and wheel. Lower the vehicle. With the engine off, gradually apply and release the brake pedal several times in order to position the caliper pistons and the brake pads. Fill the master cylinder to the proper level. Bleed the brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM . Apply approximately 175 ft. lbs. (778 N.m) of force to the brake pedal for 10 seconds. Inspect the brake caliper and hydraulic brake system for brake fluid leaks.
