Master Cylinder: Removal

  1. Loosen the air filter hose clamp and remove the air filter hose from the throttle body. Unhook the air filter housing hooks and remove the top portion of the housing with the hose.
  2. Remove the master cylinder reservoir. See MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR  . Remove the 2 brake pipes from the master cylinder. See Figure . On non-ABS vehicles, remove the 3 brake pipes from the 3-way fitting. On ABS vehicles, remove the 2 brake pipes from the 2-way fitting.
  3. On all vehicles, remove master cylinder mounting nuts. Remove the check valve bracket. Remove the 2-way (ABS) or 3-way (non-ABS) fitting. Remove the master cylinder from the vehicle.
