Master Cylinder: Installation

- Bench bleed the master cylinder. See MASTER CYLINDER BLEEDING under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM. Install the master cylinder to the brake booster. See Fig 1 . Install the check valve bracket. Install the master cylinder mounting nuts. Tighten the nuts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the check valve bracket. Install the 2-way (ABS) or 3-way (non-ABS) fitting. Install the brake pipes to the 2-way (ABS) or 3-way (non-ABS) fitting. Remove the plugs from the brake pipes. Connect the brake pipes to the master cylinder. Tighten the fittings to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the master cylinder reservoir. See MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR . Install the top portion of the air filter housing. Install the hooks to the bottom portion of the housing. Install the air filter hose to the throttle body. Secure the hose with the hose clamp. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM . Check for leaks. See BRAKE SYSTEM EXTERNAL LEAK INSPECTION under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS. Measure the brake pedal travel. Adjust as necessary. See BRAKE PEDAL under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
