Brake Pedal Assembly: Installation

  1. Install the cover to the brake pedal. See Fig 1 .
  2. Apply Lubriplate lubricant, GM P/N 1052196 (Canadian P/N 5264008), or the equivalent, to the bushings. Install the bushings to the pedal.
  3. Install the pedal and the shaft bolt to the bracket.
  4. Install the nut to the shaft bolt. Tighten the nut to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Install the bracket and the 4 nuts to the vehicle. Tighten the nuts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Apply Lubriplate lubricant to the push rod clevis pin and to the clevis pin hole in the pedal. Install the push rod clevis pin and the washer in order to retain the push rod clevis to the pedal.
  7. Install the clip in order to retain the clevis pin to the pedal. Connect the stoplight switch connector. Connect the negative battery cable. Measure the brake pedal travel. Adjust if necessary. See TRAVEL MEASUREMENT & INSPECTION  under BRAKE PEDAL in ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
