Hydraulic Brake Pressure Balance Control System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Regulates brake fluid pressure delivered to hydraulic brake wheel circuits, in order to control the distribution of braking force. On vehicles without ABS, the proportioning valve limits the outlet pressure to the rear brakes after a predetermined master cylinder pressure is reached.
On vehicles with ABS, pressure balance control is achieved through Dynamic Rear Proportioning (DRP), which is a function of the ABS modulator. Refer to ABS Description & Operation in appropriate ANTI-LOCK article for specific information on the operation of DRP.
