Removal - Rear

NOTE: Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic's wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

Raise and support vehicle. Mark wheel in relation to hub. Remove wheel and tire assembly. Install and finger-tighten 2 lug nuts with flat side toward rotor to hold rotor when caliper is removed. Remove caliper guide pin bolts. See Fig 1. Remove brake caliper from rotor and caliper mounting bracket. Wire caliper aside.
Remove the brake pads from the brake caliper bracket. See Fig 2.
Remove the brake pad retainers from the brake caliper bracket.
Remove the caliper pins from the disc brake caliper mounting bracket.
Remove the caliper pin boots from the disc brake caliper mounting bracket.
Lightly wire brush all brake pad contact areas in order to remove any corrosion.
