Drum Brake Backing Plate: Installation

  1. Install the backing plate.
  2. Install the backing plate bolts. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install the axle shaft. See appropriate AXLE SHAFT article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
  4. Install the wheel cylinder. See WHEEL CYLINDER .
  5. Install the brake shoes. See DRUM BRAKE SHOE .
  6. Install the brake drum. See BRAKE DRUM .
  7. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Bleed the brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM
