Disc Brake Backing Plate - Rear: Installation

  1. Install the backing plate to the axle housing flange. See Fig 1.
  2. Install the backing plate nuts. Tighten the backing plate bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install the rear drive axle. See appropriate AXLE SHAFT article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
  4. Install the park brake shoe. See PARK BRAKE SHOE - DISC .
  5. Install the brake rotor. See BRAKE ROTOR - REAR .
  6. Install the brake caliper and bracket assembly.
  7. Install the park brake cable to the rear brake caliper.
  8. Adjust the park brake shoe. See PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
  9. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  10. Lower vehicle.
