Front Brake Rotor: Installation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Whenever brake rotor has been separated from the hub/axle flange, any rust or contaminants should be cleaned from hub/axle flange and brake rotor mating surfaces.
- Install brake rotor to hub/axle flange. Align match mark for proper orientation to flange. If brake rotor was removed and installed as part of a brake system repair, measure the assembled lateral runout of brake rotor to ensure optimum performance of the disc brakes. Adjust as necessary.
- Install brake caliper and brake caliper bracket as an assembly to steering knuckle. Install wheels. Tighten wheel lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Lower vehicle. If brake rotor was refinished or replaced, or if new brake pads were installed, burnish the pads and rotors.
- To burnish pads and rotors, accelerate vehicle to 30 MPH. Using moderate to firm pressure, apply brakes to bring vehicle to a stop. DO NOT allow brakes to lock. Repeat about 20 stops. Allow sufficient cooling periods between stops in order to properly burnish brake pads and rotor.
