Park Brake Pedal Assembly: Removal

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable near the park brake connector (2). Remove the front park brake cable from the cable connector (1). See Fig 1 .
  2. Using Park Brake Cable Adjustment Tool, remove the park brake cable from the floor retainer. Lower the vehicle. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel to access the park brake lever assembly. See appropriate GAUGES & INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Remove the left carpet retainer.
  3. Pull the carpet back to expose the park brake cable. Remove the grommet from the floor pan. See Fig 2 .
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the park brake warning lamp switch. See Fig 3 .
  5. Remove the park brake lever assembly attaching nuts. Remove the park brake lever and cable assembly from the vehicle. See Fig 4 .
