Removal & Installation (Side Impact)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. For driver side impact air bag module, see ZONE 7  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.. For passenger side impact air bag module, see ZONE 9  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM..
  2. Remove applicable front seat from vehicle. Remove seat trim panel. Remove seat back cover and pad. Remove seat back panel. Remove push pin securing top of seat belt retractor assembly to seat back frame. Remove screws securing side impact air bag module to seat back. Disconnect side impact air bag module wiring harness. Remove side impact air bag module from front seat. See Fig 3.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten side impact air bag module screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system. For passenger side impact air bag module, see ZONE 9  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.. For driver side impact air bag module, see ZONE 7  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM..
