Diagnostic Procedure

  1. If SIR diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If SIR diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under driver-side instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, request SIR DTC display. If DTC is retrieved as both a current and history DTC, go to next step. If DTC is not retrieved as both a current and history DTC, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
  3. Replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using scan tool, erase SIR DTC's. Ensure all components are properly mounted. Road test vehicle. If DTC resets, go to step  2. If DTC does not reset, go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
