Side Impact Sensor (SIS) is an impact sensing device used to detect side impacts. SIS monitors vehicle velocity changes to detect side impacts severe enough to warrant deployment of side impact air bag module. SIS receives power and ground from Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM). SIS communicates status of side impact air bag module system to SDM via a diagnostic line. If SDM detects a malfunction, DTC will be set.
