Diagnostic Procedure

If SIR Diagnostic System Check has been performed, go to next step. If SIR Diagnostic System Check has not been performed, go to SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
If other DTC's exist, diagnose appropriate DTC's. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION table. If other DTC's do not exist, go to next step.
NOTE: Use Digital Multimeter (J-39200) and Flat WIre Probe Adapter Kit (J-42675) when performing electrical tests.
Turn ignition off. Disconnect SDM connectors. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between SDM connector C1, terminal No. 5 (Black/Orange wire) and ground. If voltage is 10-14 volts, go to step 5. If voltage is not 10-14 volts, go to next step.
Inspect Black/Orange wire between SDM connector C1, terminal No. 5 and battery for an open or high resistance. It an open or high resistance is found and corrected, go to step 7. If an open or high resistance is not found and corrected, go to next step.
Inspect White/Black wire between SDM connector C1, terminal No. 28 and ground for an open or high resistance. It an open or high resistance is found and corrected, go to step 7. If an open or high resistance is not found and corrected, go to next step.
Replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
Reconnect all SIR components. Verify all components and connectors are installed correctly. Using scan tool, clear all SIR DTC's. Road test vehicle. If DTC resets, go to step 2. If DTC does not reset, system is normal.
