High Pressure Regulator: Installation

WARNING:
When replacing HPR, apply pipe thread sealant containing Teflon(R) prior to installation. Do not use Teflon(R) tape.
NOTE:
Ensure that a clean or NEW fuel filter and the spring and gasket are installed prior to installation of the fuel inlet fitting.
- To assemble NEW component, install the fuel outlet fitting. Tighten the fitting finger-tight plus 1 to 3 turns. Install the PRD. Tighten the PRD finger-tight plus 1 to 3 turns. Install the coolant hose fittings. Tighten the coolant hose fittings finger-tight plus 1 to 3 turns as required to properly align the fittings.
- Install the HPR assembly to the mounting frame. Do not hold the HPR using the HPR cover hex flange. As required, wedge a wrench between the HPR and the tank frame in order to keep the HPR from spinning in the bracket. Install the HPR mounting nut. Tighten the nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect the HPR fuel outlet line using a NEW "O" ring face seal. Lubricate the "O" ring with petroleum jelly. Tighten the fuel line to specification. Prior to installing the fuel inlet line fitting confirm that the fuel filter, spring and seal are properly seated in the HPR. Install the fuel inlet line fitting using a new "O" ring. Lubricate the "O" ring with petroleum jelly. Tighten the fuel line fitting to specification.
- Connect the HPR fuel inlet line to the HPR fitting. Tighten the fuel line to specification. Connect the HPR coolant hoses to the HPR. Tighten the coolant hose clamp ensuring that the clamp fastens the hose to the HPR fitting. Remove the coolant hose pinch pliers if used.
- Install the negative battery cable(s). Tighten cable bolt(s) to specification. Inspect for proper coolant level and fill as necessary. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING under COOLING SYSTEM. Inspect the cooling system for leaks. Start the vehicle and inspect for CNG fuel leaks at the serviced fitting using Combustible Gas Detector. Install the tank cover. See FUEL TANK COVER .
