Removal & Installation (4.3L)

NOTE:
DO NOT use the old cap, CMP sensor, and rotor screws. Use the replacement screws that have been coated with a thread locking compound.
- Remove the engine cover. Disconnect the spark plug wires and ignition coil wire from the distributor. See Fig 1. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor harness connector from the distributor. See Fig 2.
- Remove the distributor cap. See Fig 3. Remove rotor screws and the rotor. See Fig 4.
- Align the square slot in the reluctor wheel with the CMP sensor. See Fig 5. Remove the CMP screws. Remove the CMP sensor. See Fig 6.
- To install, insert the CMP sensor through the reluctor wheel slot. Install NEW cap, CMP sensor, and rotor screws. Install the rotor onto the reluctor wheel. Install the distributor cap. Connect the CMP sensor harness connector. Connect the spark plug wires and ignition coil wire. Install the engine cover.
