NOTE:
An 8-digit part identification number is on a mylar label affixed to the fuel meter body assembly. Refer to this number if servicing or part replacement is required. DO NOT use any solvent that contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). This solvent may damage fuel system components. Before removal, clean the fuel meter body assembly with a spray type engine cleaner (GM X-30A or equivalent), if necessary. Follow the package instructions. DO NOT soak the fuel meter body assembly in liquid cleaning solvent.
NOTE:
The number 3 fuel tube must be positioned behind the number 1 fuel tube to eliminate interference with the upper intake manifold when installed.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect harness connectors from fuel meter body. Disconnect fuel feed and return lines. Remove upper intake manifold assembly. See INTAKE MANIFOLD under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS.
- Label injector lines for installation reference. Squeeze injector lock tabs and lift injectors from lower intake manifold. Remove fuel meter body from bracket with injector lines and injectors attached by releasing lock tabs on bracket. Disassemble as necessary.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Verify that the poppet nozzles are firmly seated and locked in their casting sockets in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury. An unlocked poppet nozzle could work loose from its socket and produce a fuel leak.
- Bleed cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING under COOLING SYSTEM. Ensure all injectors are properly locked into place.
- Install NEW "O" ring onto fuel feed and return lines. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
